The Dazaifu Tenmangu Museum exhibited the paintings of Kikuhata Mokuma (1935–2020), an artist who was based in Fukuoka his entire life. This exhibition was realized with the full cooperation of his bereaved family, after he passed away two years ago. Under the deity of culture and the arts, we have focused on artists who reflect the times, and we hoped that many visitors to Fukuoka will experience up close the fierce heat generated from the blue canvases of Kikuhata’s paintings that combine beauty with intensity.
