Jiro Takamatsu

Born in 1936 in Tokyo, Japan. After he participated for the first time in ‘The 10th Yomiuri Independent’ in 1958, Tokyo Metropolis Art, Japan, Takamatsu formed Hi Red Center in 1963 with Akasegawa Genpei and Nakanishi Natsuyuki. He participated numerous international exhibitions such as ‘La Biennale di Venezia’ in 1968; ‘documenta 6’, Kassel, West Germany, in 1977. Even after his death in 1998, Takamatsu’s work has been the subject of numerous retrospectives, including ‘Takamatsu Jiro collection in Hiroshima – Point, Line, Form of Absence', Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, in 2009.
